Develop a way to leverage the  diverse talent and knowledge across the different departments of Wells Fargo and increase employee engagement around diversity

Diversity Matters, a forum to engage and energize team members on topics of diversity through thoughtful discussions, inspiring speakers and educational activities

There were a few different groups in the Wells Fargo building including finance, real estate and design. The groups rarely interacted aside from the occasional run-in by the water cooler. Aside from my job at the Design Manager for the mural team, I was also serving on the diversity council. The council was a great chance for me to meet and learn from colleagues in other parts of the company. I learned and explored the meaning of diversity in a company and how it went beyond race or color of someone’s skin.

Inspired to share these learnings and dig into the knowledge and insights of the groups around us, I created Diversity Matters. Fellow colleagues from across the different groups were enthusiastic to share their ideas and we had a series of successful talks on Difference and Value Creation and Diversity of Opinion and Thought as well as a workshop exploring Strengthfinders. The forum opened up opportunities for colleagues of various backgrounds to engage and discuss important topics.
